pour des Utilisations en
Environnement
(Sharing data for uses in environment)

PADOUE is a multi-field project 2002 of ACI GRID (Actions
Concertées Incitatives -
Globalisation des Ressources Informatiques et des Données).
Force is to note that the researchers of many scientific disciplines and
particularly the researchers of the environment, have great quantities of
data stored in autonomous sources of information, strongly heterogeneous and
geographically
dispersed , which potentially can prove to be a real network of
shareable resources. In parallel, the scientific community developed a multitude
of data-processing programmes of analysis and processing the data playing an
essential role in the activities of monitoring of the environment or in the
decision-making processes which must be based on predictions of good quality. The
major problem is thus related to the capacity of the organizations of research
to exploit such a network of resources. PADOUE Project thus takes four actions
complementary to research aiming to:
 |
Ensure the
interoperability of the data and the programs of treatment. This action
will be based on the mediation system of LeSelect (developed in the Caravel
project by INRIA) which offers a uniform and integrated conceptual sight
resources available in a network.
|
 |
Assist the user in the development of data processing sequences of information (still
called scientific "dataflow" ) intended to produce useful derived information.
This action will lead to the development of a management tool of data processing
sequences.
|
 |
Ensure the documentation and the filing of the produced data and the programmes
of treatment by means of metadata which facilitate the localization and the
identification of the shared resources. This action will lead to the development
of a management tool of metadata including a general model of metadata. This
tool will allow the automation of the inventory and the seizure of the metadata.
|
 |
Ensure the effective localization of relevant information in the network of
resources. This action will lead to the development of an intelligent catalogue
making it possible to identify the data available, to locate them and to
apprehend of it the contents and quality by the means of the metadata. This
intelligent catalogue will incorporate information on the localization,
adaptable to various user profiles for personalized research and will facilitate
the organization of an access control to the data, according to the constraints
of property associated with each base.
